Galvanic Compatibility Checker
Predict galvanic corrosion risk when dissimilar metals are in contact in the presence of an electrolyte (like moisture or saltwater). Select two metals and see their potential difference and compatibility rating.
How Galvanic Corrosion Works
When two dissimilar metals are electrically connected and immersed in a common electrolyte (like water), one metal acts as an anode and corrodes preferentially, while the other acts as a cathode and is protected. The greater the difference in their electrical potential, the faster the corrosion.
This tool helps you quickly assess the risk by looking at the potential difference between common engineering metals. Always aim for metals close together in the galvanic series to minimize corrosion.
